About Kiandokht

Kiandokht Nouri is a Vancouver-based pianist and educator who began her piano training at age six, later earning her diploma from the Tehran Music School. She studied piano performance at the University of Tehran before completing her Bachelor of Music with High Distinction at the University of British Columbia under Miranda Wong. Her academic excellence earned her several awards, including the Patricia Chapman Memorial Scholarship, the Trek Excellence Scholarship, and the Eleanor and James Wrigley Bursary. An active and accomplished performer, Kiandokht frequently appears in festivals, concerts, and recordings across Iran and Canada. Recent highlights include a featured violin-piano recital with Ava Shadmani at Zameen Art House, alongside regular collaborations with diverse chamber ensembles. With over a decade of teaching experience, Kiandokht mentors students of all ages and levels, from early childhood beginners to university-bound musicians. She rigorously prepares students for RCM piano and theory examinations, emphasizing technique, sight-reading, musicianship, and theoretical understanding. Her students consistently achieve top results in Kiwanis competitions and BCCM/RCM examinations, including numerous First Class Honours with Distinction. In addition to her studio teaching, she has served on the faculty at the VSO School of Music and is an active collaborative pianist for local choirs. Furthermore, Kiandokht works with the Vancouver Extracurricular Music Society as both a pianist and conductor, designing engaging choir programs for local schools. Passionate about Persian folk music and the classical repertoire, she approaches music as a universal language fostering creativity, expression, and connection.
